President's Message

Members and Friends of IMA's Mt. Rainier Chapter:

November 2023:

Welcome to all our members and friends.  I hope that you all enjoy your Thanksgiving Holiday and find time to spend with family and other loved ones.

Highlight of November: We sponsored five students to attend the National Student Leadership Conference in Detroit, MI.  We had a great group with two students from Pacific Lutheran University, 2 students from St. Martin's University and 1 student from UW, Tacoma. I accompanied the students to the conference and I was so impressed with their professional behaviour and commitment to learning from the information and opportunities offered throughout the conference.  It was a joyful four day experience.

Our local board along with our partners at AFWA (Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance) have been working on plans for 2024.  We have been focusing on using the ON24 Platform for our CPE Presentations.  We are planning to have a topic every other month (odd) during 2024 and are hoping to expand to more sessions as we get more experience with this platform.

Our next CPE Session is scheduled for 6:30pm on Tuesday, November 28th on the topic of "From Accountant to Business Partner". Please be sure to see the link for registration under upcoming events.  This CPE session is free for IMA members, non-members and students.... that's EVERYONE!

Another emphasis we are hoping to get your participation in involves giving back to our community.  The board would like to proceed with supporting Habitat for Humanity.  We are looking for volunteers to help with a build, or with working one of the Habitat stores, or providing lunches for building sites.  If you are interested please contact me at schaille@comcast.net for more information.

Lastly, it is that time of year for us to begin thinking about our Leadership for the next year.  We have board vacancies and if you are interested in serving on the board, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Chaille, CPA, CMA, MBA, MAFM
